As individuals who have chosen to combine our vision, creativity, and efforts to bring this work out into the world, clearly we believe in the power of collaboration. And we also value the synergy that arises when individuals and organizations involved in the same work choose to support and even refer to each other instead of working in isolation or competing against each other. We have found that over time the shared body of work grows richer and everyone benefits. So we are providing a select list of like-minded and like-hearted organizations doing similar yet somewhat different work, organizations whose work we deeply respect. Interestingly, our instinct for mutual support has led to some of these very organizations becoming co-sponsors of the Four Shields of Leadership programs. Others provide programs we feel might potentially interest you.
The School of Lost Borders is a consortium of colleagues from various walks of life who devote themselves to the preservation of human life through midwifing rites of passage. For close to thirty years, their programs have helped participants cross the border between past and future, old and new, outer and inner, self and Self. Utilize the teaching power of nature, self, council, and the initiatory passageway itself, Lost Borders’ programs navigate the labyrinth of personal, communal, national, and international change, helping participants follow their own path on to maturation, integration, and the attainment of the potential to live and die well on this earth.
Rites of Passage Rites of Passage is a non-profit organization whose mission is to reintroduce meaningful rites of passage to the modern world so that people are better able to navigate crisis as well as mark and celebrate important life transitions, all with courage, strength, and wisdom. Since their founding in 1977, they have guided thousands of adults and youth from a wide variety of backgrounds, occupations, and geographic locations on vision quests, retreats, training programs, and other wilderness rites of passage. Affirming an unbreakable bond between the human and natural world, all of their programs use the mirror of the natural world to help participants rediscover their wholeness and renew themselves within the context of community.
